Evette Vargas is an award-winning writer, director, producer, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality storyteller. Named by the New York Times as an “Artist to Watch,” Vargas’ writing, directing and producing includes series for Amazon, MTV, Bravo, DirectTV; as well as writing, apps, games and branded entertainment for Fast And Furious, Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Madonna. Vargas exec produced, wrote and directed her digital series Dark Prophet, starring Henry Rollins, which was nominated for two Emmys and premiered at Sundance. Vargas sold her drama series Muses to Turner Broadcasting Super Deluxe, is developing Wedding Smashers with Jash Media and Ryot Films and a series with QC Entertainment. Vargas’ slate of VR projects includes the The Current War VR Experience, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Vargas was invited by the Cannes Film Festival to speak on VR Storytelling. Vargas was born in the Bronx and learned to tell stories at the dinner table with her family where the imagination ruled.

 

MeeRa Kim is the CEO and co-founder of Arbor Entertainment, a full service 360/VR production studio. She is an experienced creative producer of new media content and feature films. MeeRa recently co-produced SHE’S JUST A SHADOW, a feature film starring Tao Okamoto (Hannibal, The Man in the High Castle, Batman vs. Superman, Wolverine), produced a VR horror short VAIN: THIS PARTY SUCKS, an official selection at several film festivals, and directed a VR music video for award-winning composer David Raiklen. She also produced 4 seasons of the popular web series HORROR HAIKU.

 

David Marlett, the Managing Editor of OMNI magazine, is a bestselling author, new media consultant, immersive story pioneer, and an award-winning storyteller. In 2014, his novel, Fortunate Son, rose to #3 in all Literature and Fiction on Amazon, and #2 in all Historical Fiction. In 2015, in association with Samsung and Oculus, he wrote and directed MansLaughter, the world’s first Cinematic VR feature film, helping invent immersive VR sound control in the process. In 2016, David partnered with Final Draft and created the first “sphereplay” template for script writing for immersive staging. In 2017, he was part of the team that led the international return of OMNI, the beloved magazine for “Science, Imagination, and the Future.” OMNImagazine.com. David has taught at universities, and continues to speak regularly, on story design, the craft of writing, and the unique challenges, methods, and implications of immersive storytelling in an artificial space. Chris Pack is the Vice President of Development and Production at Observe Media, a full-service strategic content creation agency that specializes in immersive storytelling. Observe Media is a leader in the Virtual Reality space with multiple Cinematic VR content productions featuring top Hollywood actors.  Observe Media is currently producing multiple film slates in standard format, Barco ESCAPE’s immersive 3 screen format and the Virtual Reality format.

Chris is also the Co-founder Story Gardens: A Global Immersive Think-tank and Collaborative.  Story Gardens seeks to elevate and expand how stories are created and experienced in virtual and augmented reality.  The think-tank identifies challenges and obstacles immersive is facing and gather experts together to find solutions and pathways forward.  Story Gardens is also democratizing immersive technologies globally through educational and apprenticeship initiatives and the development of best practices from industry practitioners and users.

The collective is powered and led A-level talent (e.g. creative, business, technical, top innovators) theme park and experience design, location-based entertainment, film, TV, animation, motion capture, photogrammetry, medical, multimodal interaction and mobile-based experiences.   The Story Gardens collective consults across industries such as entertainment, tourism, medical, architecture, fashion, art, sports, events and real estate.  The collective helps companies and brands that are looking to integrate virtual or augmented reality into their business models and engage with social communities.

Tiegen Kosiak

Tiegen Kosiak is an independent producer, focused on up-and-coming short form content creators. Previously, she was the Director of Development for Cinestar Pictures (Zoe Saldana’s production company) where she developed TV, feature, digital, scripted & unscripted content. Tiegen began her entertainment career working in literary management at Untitled Entertainment. She is a member of Film Independent and HRTS-Associates as well as a speaker / instructor for Scriptwriters Network, NALIP, Roadmap Writers, Stage 32 & other organizations.

Craig Miller is a well-known and respected writer/developer/producer with over 200 credits.  He has worked in live-action and animation, written scripts, developed series, pitched to studios and networks, produced, cast, approved storyboards, character designs, and animation – the entire gamut of what goes into creating, selling, and producing a TV series.

Miller has worked as an executive and consultant in publicity, marketing, and licensing for Lucasfilm, Warner Bros., Universal, Disney, Columbia, Henson Associates, and others.  His work included the films Star WarsThe Empire Strikes BackExcaliburSuperman IIAltered StatesThe Dark CrystalThe Wicker ManThe Muppets Take Manhattan, Splash, My Science Project, Real Genius and many more.

But for most of his career, Miller has been writing, developing, and producing for television, films, and games.  He has worked directly with George Lucas and Jim Henson on projects including a syndicated magic special and Sesame Street.  The majority of Miller’s work has been for the children’s, tween, and teen/young adult market, including the 104 episode TV series Pocket Dragon Adventures on the BBC and in over 125 countries around the world.  He’s also written on action-adventure projects G.I. Joe and Beast Wars as well as comedy-adventure series The Real Ghostbusters and The Smurfs.  He spent three years writing the multiple-Emmy-winning Curious George for PBS.

His most recent work includes developing and writing for: Resistance, a live-action science fiction adventure series; Fortune Teller, a live-action fantasy adventure that’s a mixture of Vampire Diaries and Game of ThronesPlaytime Buddies, an animated pre-school series; Basketeers, an animated sports-themed adventure series; Grandpa’s Robot, a new series for Latin America; Cheddar Man & the Mysteries of Food, an animated educational series developed for a food channel; Wingin’ It, an animated comedy-music series based on a country singer’s children’s book; two series –Majid and Karamella – created and produced for airing in the Middle East, and Pet Parade, a series for the web.

 

Mairghread Scott is an animation and comic book writer specializing in action-comedy. Her work can be seen in Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy, Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, Transformers: Robots In Disguise and Rescue Bots as well as the comic books First Strike, Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers: Till All Are One, and her creator-owned series Toil and Trouble.

 

 

Bill Freiberger is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he has written, produced and directed for television for the past thirty years. A former stand-up comedian, Bill directed animation for the Emmy Award winning Pee-wee’s Playhouse. He has written for such diverse comedies as “The Howard Stern Show”; “Get A Life”; “The PJs” (for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award); “Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place”; “The Simpsons” (for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award); “Greg The Bunny”; and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” He’s been an Executive Producer and/or Showrunner for “Manhattan, AZ”; “3 South”; “Drawn Together”; “Warren The Ape”; and currently “Sonic Boom” for Cartoon Network. Bill has taught television writing at Chapman University and lectured at colleges and universities around the country. He is also a frustrated actor and often casts himself in his projects because no one else will.

 

Joelle Sellner began her career as an advertising copywriter, writing award-winning print, radio and television ads for clients such as Lexus, In-N-Out Burger, and Kleenex. Her writing for animated shows includes Sonic Boom, Ben 10: Omniverse, Teen Titans, Shin Chan, and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Her animated web series work includes LEGO DC Superhero Girls, Mattel’s Monster High, and the upcoming Super Slackers, which she created. Joelle has also worked on comics for DC, Marvel, Dynamite, Blizzard and IDW, as well as Lion Forge/Roar Comics (including Saved By the Bell and MER). In addition, she has written several live action made-for-cable romantic comedies which have aired on the Lifetime Movie Network.

 

Brian Master is an Editor in the motion picture and television industry that has worked on a number of award-winning productions.  He is a creative technologist and media and entertainment industry consultant.  He has worked for South Park Studios, Illumination Entertainment, Blizzard Entertainment, Warner Brothers Studios, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Blue Sky Studios, Walt Disney Television Animation, DreamWorks Animation.

Some of his projects include South Park, Future Worm Season 1, Despicable Me 3, Heroes of the Storm, Ice Age 2, Shrek 1, Bunnicula, Teen Titans Go!, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production, Justice League vs. Teen Titans, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, Piglet’s Big Movie, House of Mouse, Mickey Mouse Works, Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, Quest for Camelot, Wreck it Ralph, Tangled and Princess Frog.

Scott Russell — during his eight years as Creative Director for Fox Kids Network, and twelve years owning his own media company, Scott Russell has worked as a film director, producer, photographer, designer, art director, creative director, editor, and writer, with clients including Warner Brothers, Disney Imagineering, Buena Vista Home Video, Saban, The History Channel, Warner Interactive, Sony Pictures and many others. Scott has mentored with Group 101 Films, and the California Museum of Photography. He has written for film and television, produced over fifty short films, and his first feature film Exquisite Corpse is currently being distributed through VMI Worldwide. He lives in a mostly-empty nest in greater, greater Los Angeles. Scott has taught Film, Writing, and Media Arts classes for eleven years, including courses in photography, motion graphics, video production, digital imaging, game design and screenwriting. His award-winning films have been screened in festivals worldwide, and seen on national network television.
