How It All Began (1986–2000)
The Scriptwriters Network began in 1986, when a small group of passionate writers started meeting regularly to discuss screenplays, share feedback, and support each other’s careers. At that time, membership required submitting a script for entry — a unique standard that reflected the group’s serious focus on craft and commitment.

As the community grew, so did its goals. In 2001, the organization formally incorporated as a nonprofit under the name Scriptwriters Network Foundation, Inc., adopting the logo still in use today. The organization later received its federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt determination from the Internal Revenue Service.
