Amanda Barton was born in Pennsylvania, and grew up in Australia and Hong Kong. Her passion for writing started in childhood, writing her first play in second grade and a children’s book in middle school. She grew up watching scary movies and was influenced early on by Steven King. She began performing theater in Hong Kong, starring as Kate in Shakespeare’s THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. She continued to study theater at UC Santa Barbara where she received her BFA in Theater/Acting. In addition to her acting conservatory syllabus, she also took several courses in Horror and Sci-Fi, which inspired her one-person show HELP! THE VAMPIRE IS BITING MY HEART.

After working in production and as an actress in the horror film genre for many years, Amanda decided to dedicate her focus to writing screenplays. Her first commissioned feature script was THE AMITYVILLE TERROR, a twist on the classic story about the possessed Amityville House. THE AMITYVILLE TERROR was released in 2016 and had a successful run on Redbox as well as various online platforms. Her second feature screenplay, the demon hunting thriller ANGELS FALLEN, was shot primarily on location in Macedonia last summer. ANGELS FALLEN is in post-production and slated for release early next year. Amanda is currently writing several feature scripts in various stages of development. She enjoys creating fun twisted worlds and is excited to continue working in the horror genre.
