GATEKEEPERS: a Literary Assistant’s Guide to the Submission Process

The most high profile Hollywood managers, agents, and executives all have assistants. These are the people they trust to screen phone calls and sift through mountainous piles of scripts. Their good graces and high opinions are essential when navigating the submission process. In this panel, you’ll learn some “literary assistant” tips and tricks for writing, editing, submitting, meeting, and networking. Please come with questions!

Tiegen Kosiak is currently the assistant for the President of Production and Literary Management at Untitled Entertainment, a top Hollywood management and production company with offices in Beverly Hills, Manhattan, and London. Prior to working at Untitled, Tiegen was an assistant in various industries across the country, including commercial production in West Los Angeles, music management and live show production in Las Vegas, and corporate video production in New York City.
She has a BA in Communications from Marymount Manhattan College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is a member of Scriptwriters Network, the Junior Hollywood Radio & Television Society, and Film Independent. Tiegen also writes in her spare time. She is currently developing two one-hour premium cable pilots and an independent feature set in the San Fernando Valley.
Daniel Seco is an assistant for a motion picture literary agent at CAA. He previously worked at Resolution where he started as an intern before working in the mailroom, as a floater, and in the motion picture department for a talent and literary agent. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Seco worked as a sports journalist and special education teacher. He is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland and the University of Florida.
Jordan Davidovitz began his career as an intern for Conan O’Brien before venturing into talent representation. In 2012 he was selected by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to participate in their prestigious Emmys Internship Program, which led him to assist the Head of Television at Montana Artists Agency. The following year he joined APA as Coordinator of Physical Production before crossing over to the Feature Literary department, where he currently assists a senior agent representing screenwriters and directors.
Jordan holds a B.A. in Media Management from California State University Northridge. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Junior Hollywood Radio & Television Society. He is also actively involved with several non-profit organizations including The Anti-Defamation League and FoodForward.org
