Mohamad El Masri has a varied professional background in advertising, branding, photography and graphic design. After studying directing and cinematography in Vancouver Film School’s Film Production program, Mohamad began his screenwriting career in television working on shows like SYFY’s CONTINUUM, HBO’s HERE & NOW and NETFLIX’S OCTOBER FACTION.
Currently he’s a writer and co-executive producer on APPLE TV+’s Emmy nominated hit series, SEVERANCE and WAYWARD, NETFLIX’s upcoming thriller created by Mae Martin and starring Toni Collette. He has developed his own projects with HBO, AMC, AMAZON, NBC Universal, SKYDANCE, BAD ROBOT, HOORAE, SEVEN BUCKS, WARNER BROs. TV, SKY, among others. His current slate includes TV projects with TEAM DOWNEY, SEVEN BUCKS, SMOKEHOUSE PICTURES, MATT TOLMACH PRODUCTIONS and FABULA.
He has recently written and directed OTHER OTHER, a short film starring Sosie Bacon and Scoot McNairy, which premiered as an Official Selection on YouTube’s Short Of the Week in September of 2024. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
