jim-pasternakJim Pasternak is a master directing teacher who has taught film directing for 40 years.   He has designed directing programs and taught at some of the best film schools in the U.S.   Currently he is on the faculty of the New York Film Academy,  Burbank, CA.   Studios and producers hire Jim to help new directors prepare their features. He travels the world empowering people to write, produce and direct movies and television. Two of his directors have won Oscars.

Jim’s directing, producing, and writing credits include features, shorts, theater, and television.    He is currently producing the features,  THE TROUBLE WITH MY SISTER, by Richard Marshall and Billy Mernit, and MARCH OF THE 10,000, by James Pasternak; and the television series, BLACK KUNGFU CHICK, written and to be directed by Rae Shaw.

Jim recently directed CERTIFIABLY JONATHAN, a mockumentary feature starring Jonathan Winters, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman, and Howie Mandel. He directed ONE HELL OF A GUY, starring Rob Lowe and Michael York. His writing credits include the final draft of COUSINS, directed by Joel Schumacher.

A directing fellow at the Sundance Institute, he began his career as assistant to Otto Preminger and as a producer on the Emmy-Award winning ABC documentary series, “THE SAGA OF WESTERN MAN.” He holds a Masters Degree in Film from UCLA.

Free Parking — Enter the CBS lot at the main gate & inform security you are there for the Scriptwriters Network event.

You’ll be asked for your government issued photo ID, and then given directions to the meeting location. You may park in any available space on the lot, unless CBS’ Security directs you to a park at a different area.

As this is a professional event, we ask that you please arrive prior to the event start time.
