WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? — 6 Key Ways Developing a Pilot is Different than a Feature Script
Event Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017 || Speaker: Ellen Sandler|| Check-in: 12:30 pm ||
A Pilot is different from other dramatic or narrative story telling forms. With a feature, a play, or a novel, you tell a single story, albeit with many complications and a few side trips, and then you’re done. A series pilot also tells a story and at the same time it must be a template for many more stories. What that means for you, the writer, is you must create not one story, but a story telling engine. In this seminar Ellen Sandler shares her insights on six significant ways a pilot differs from a feature and the specific tools you can use from the earliest point of your creative process to develop an original idea or adapt your screenplay (or other narrative) into a story telling engine that can run a series—in other words, a pilot.
