Roberto Orci

Roberto Orci is one of the leading filmmakers working in the industry today, having started his production company K/O Paper Products with partner Alex Kurtzman after a working partnership of over eighteen years.

Most recently, Summit released Now You See Me, produced through their company K/O Paper Products and in May, Paramount released Star Trek: Into Darkness, which Kurtzman and Orci co-wrote and produced. In November, the holiday film season gets kicked off with Ender’s Game, released by Summit and also produced through K/O Paper Products. They are currently in production on Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 4, which they co-wrote and will executive produce, to be released Summer 2014. They are also set to produce The Mummy and Van Helsing reboots through their overall deal with Universal Pictures. In TV, Kurtzman and Orci are currently working on a Sleepy Hollow adaptation to premiere this fall on Fox.

Kurtzman and Orci are the writers behind some of the decade’s biggest films, including Star Trek; Transformers; Eagle Eye; Mission: Impossible III and executive producers of romantic comedy hit The Proposal. The duo’s writing and producing credits have earned over $3 billion worldwide.

The duo co-wrote and produced People Like Us for Disney, directed by Kurtzman. They created and executive produced the hit TV show Fringe. Their current television slate includes CBS’ Hawaii Five-O and The Hub’s Transformers: Prime, an original computer-animated series.

Kurtzman and Orci began their careers writing for the popular TV series Hercules. They went on to write for Xena: Warrior Princess, as well as J.J. Abrams’s hit series Alias, where they eventually served as executive producers on the show.

Melessa Sargent..8.21.13.As President and CEO of The Scriptwriters Network Foundation, Inc. (SWN), Melessa Sargent is guiding the network to realize its full potential as the premier educational organization and resource for writers in the industry.  In addition to overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the current website, she has reinvigorated the Board of Directors and Steering Committees with the addition of exceptional new members.  Melessa is also creating new programs, contests and special events, along with finalizing strategic alliances with partners and sponsors.  Her specific focus is on continuing SWN’s history of quality programming, vital content, and membership development.

Melessa’s experience is multi-faceted.  She was trained as a dancer in ballet, tap and jazz, and as a print model for fashion magazines.  A regional winner of Star Search (Singing), Melessa has experience both behind and in front of the camera, acting in commercials and dramatic roles.  She has also produced and written the following TV shows: Missing: Have You Seen Me?, Our Mysterious Island, and Pictures.  Melessa has completed several feature and TV scripts, including a family drama and a pilot.
