MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

• Submit a completed application form;
• Submit appropriate fees; and
• Submit a completed script for evaluation and have it accepted by the Membership Committee.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

Submit a one-time, non-refundable $15 application fee and the $75 one-year membership dues with your application and sample script. The newsletter is included in your membership dues.

NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTION ONLY

Complete the application form and send in $55 for a one-year subscription (12 issues).

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP

For writers who live outside Southern California. Send in a completed application form, a sample script, the $15 application fee and the $65 annual membership dues. Affiliates are not allowed to vote in the annual Network elections. If you live outside the United States, dues are $100 a year.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

For students, membership will require a current student ID. Send in a completed application form, a short sample script (10 pages minimum), a copy of your current student ID, the $15 application fee, and the $45 annual membership dues.

EVALUATION OF SCRIPTS

The Scriptwriters Network welcomes writers at all levels of experience and expertise. Scripts are evaluated for form, not content. Scripts that the Network decides do not meet industry standards can be reformatted and resubmitted. Scripts will only be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

REFUNDS

If a person's membership is not accepted, the $75 will be refunded.

FORMAT STANDARDS FOR SCRIPT SUBMISSION

• Stiff cover fastened by brads or Chicago screws;
• Title page: title, writer's name, address and phone number;
• Industry standard Courier 12 point type;
• Proper slug lines within the script, as required by industry standards;
• Proper grammar and spelling. No typos;
• Proper margins and spacing of narration and dialogue as applicable to the medium;
• Suggested lengths: feature scripts, 90-130 pages; half-hour television, 30-48 pages; one-hour television, 50-75 pages;
• This must be a reading script, not a shooting script - no camera angles or scene numbers;
• Do not put your name, the script's title, or your WGA registration number on every page;
• Do not submit synopsis, budgets, or casting suggestions;
• You may not submit treatments or a synopsis for membership; and
• Scripts which do not adhere to these standards will be returned to the applicant. Returned scripts can be reformatted and resubmitted.
