Currently a Co-Executive Producer on the HBO hit comedy, Insecure, DAYNA LYNNE NORTH is known for writing and producing buzz-worthy television. A Cum Laude graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Dayna began her writing career with a freelance episode for the critically acclaimed series Any Day Now (Lifetime).  She joined the writing staff during the third season, in 2001.  Dayna then joined Soul Food: The Series (Showtime) for its fifth and final season. She wrote and produced on the first two seasons of the pop culture phenom Veronica Mars (CW), which launched the television career of its gifted star, Kristen Bell. Veronica Mars recently made history when it was resurrected to become the largest, most quickly funded featured film project on Kickstarter.

Dayna was Producer and Co-Executive Producer on the final three seasons of the acclaimed ABC-Family drama Lincoln Heights, which starred Russell Hornsby, and garnered the NAACP Image award for Best Drama, as well as the Gabriel Award for Best Entertainment in 2008.

In 2012 she adapted the young adult novel Anna And The French Kiss into a single-camera romantic comedy pilot for Teen Nick.

In October 2013, in celebration of their two-year anniversary, Dayna partnered with Numa Perrier and Dennis Dortch of the fast-rising YouTube channel Black & Sexy.TV to produce a much buzzed about parody trailer of the hit Netflix series ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK entitled ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (AND SEXY). It pays homage to OITNB with parodies of Miley Cyrus, Julianne Hough (in blackface) — and other recent pop culture lightening rods.  It received nods and retweets of approval from the cast of the Netflix hit, and is currently racking up views on YouTube.

Dayna joined and revamped the VH1/Flavor Unit dramedy Single Ladies as Showrunner/Co-Executive Producer for the 2014 season.

She recently reteamed with longtime friend Nancy Miller (Any Day Now) co-writing and Co-Executive producing a historical miniseries for OWN entitled TULSA, based on the 1921 massacre in the community of Greenwood, OK.

She also wrote the Lifetime Television movie, “An En Vogue Christmas,” — starring the Funky Divas themselves – which debuted on Lifetime on November 22, 2014.

In her stolen moments, Dayna enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, mentoring young women filmmakers and returning to her alma mater, USC to teach screenwriting.
